Overview
This role involves providing leadership for the school's athletic program, focusing on the development, implementation, and improvement of the boys' swim team.
Responsibilities
- Coach a full varsity team according to MSHSAA standards.
- Implement and enforce athletic standards per the MSHSAA Handbook and attend required sessions and meetings.
- Supervise students during practices and contests in line with KCMSD Athletic Department policies.
- Maintain equipment and facilities, conduct inventory checks, and report to the Athletic Director/Principal.
- Model ethical behavior and sportsmanship during all practices and competitions.
- Oversee equipment return, maintain accurate inventory, and hold students accountable for equipment.
- Keep records of team and individual achievements, and coordinate awards and letters.
- Submit all season-related information to the Athletic Director within two weeks post-season.
- Collaborate with the principal to develop a strong program.
- Engage in professional growth through clinics and publications.
- Manage player development, fundraising, promotion, and coaching staff supervision.
- Set and evaluate performance goals for each season.
- Promote athletic and academic accomplishments of student-athletes.
- Provide contest statistics to media outlets.
- Complete 8 hours of professional development, including clinics and meetings.
- Complete required coaching courses and sports first aid certification.
- Maintain a strong commitment to student-athletes and knowledge of collegiate eligibility regulations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Student-athletes and assistant coaches.
Minimum Qualifications
- Four-year college degree or 1-3 years coaching experience, with employment as a teacher or administrator preferred.
- Knowledge of the sport's philosophy and coaching techniques.
- Completion of MSHSAA/NFHS coaching and first aid courses.
- Strong commitment to student-athlete development and eligibility regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Employment as a teacher or administrator at the applying school.
Physical Demands
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, reach, bend, stoop, and lift objects of at least 25 pounds.
