Employment Begins: 2025-26 school year
The district seeks a dedicated Special Education Teacher to serve in various roles including Highly Supported Life Skills, High Intensity Social Emotional Learning, Preschool, Early Intervention, Voice Program, Visually Impaired, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and Itinerant Special Ed. Teacher. The teacher will be assigned to specific school(s) and report to the Principal or Principal Designee.

The teacher is responsible for effective instruction based on district curriculum and assessment practices, working across diverse elementary and secondary settings to support student safety, engagement, and individualized learning plans.
The district values diversity; candidates should have experience working with culturally diverse families and communities, demonstrating a commitment to community engagement and communication.
The teacher works independently under supervision of a school administrator and may receive additional guidance from district special education staff. Work is governed by professional standards, policies, and state regulations.
VOICE Program: Conduct vocational assessments, implement academic and social programs, coordinate community work, and collaborate with adult providers.
Early Intervention: Participate in transition activities, develop and monitor IFSP, and support families.
Visually Impaired: Teach Braille, orientation and mobility, and support visual and functional assessments.
Deaf and Hard of Hearing: Assess sign language needs, teach sign language, and coordinate support schedules.
Itinerant Teacher: Manage caseloads, provide in-home/remote instruction, and coordinate transitions and curricula.
Must meet physical demands including lifting up to 50+ pounds, working in various environments, and handling potential exposure to infectious materials and student behaviors.
Eligible for insurance benefits after 630 hours; participation in Washington State Retirement Systems and optional 403(b) and 457 plans.
