Position Overview

KIPP Forward accepts applications from exceptional recent or soon-to-be college graduates to join our two-year College Success Fellows program. As full-time employees with a salary of $60,406 and full benefits, Fellows work passionately and tirelessly to ensure that recent graduates of our partner high schools receive outstanding support through their first two years of college, with the ultimate goal of persisting and accumulating 60 credits to stay on track for on-time degree completion. Throughout their two-year commitment, Fellows engage in regular training and receive consistent and direct feedback from their managers, who are skilled college and career success practitioners that help Fellows grow professionally.

The Western, NY College Success Fellow will be assigned to schools within a 3-hour drive from Buffalo, Ithaca, Syracuse, or Rochester. This Fellow must reside in the Western, NY area during the academic year of the fellowship. The role involves frequent travel to college campuses, with all transportation costs covered by KIPP Forward. Fellows provide coaching, mentorship, and direct support to alumni through 1:1 advisement sessions and regular touchpoints, assessing progress using our "Persistence Benchmarks" which measure financial health, academic habits, socio-emotional health, and career planning. The goal is to help alumni make positive progress in these areas.

The fellowship runs from July 2025 to June 2027. At the end of the program, employment with KIPP NYC terminates. Fellows will receive career coaching support during their second year to prepare for future employment.

Responsibilities

1. College Advising

• Manage a caseload of 125-150 students, meeting 1-4 times per semester based on priority.
• Become an expert on assigned campuses to guide alumni to resources.
• Collaborate with campus staff to support alumni effectively.
• Follow up on registration, coursework, and financial aid issues.
• Assist with FAFSA/TAP renewals and loan counseling.
• Recruit and monitor participation in career programs in Year 2.

1. Data Management

• Track and update student data and progress using CEAMS.
• Ensure timely submission of transcripts and surveys.

1. Professional Development & Collaboration

• Attend mandatory training sessions and ongoing professional development.
• Support training of new Fellows and participate actively in team meetings.
• Maintain regular communication with the College Success Manager.
• Leverage social media to promote programs.

1. Administrative Tasks

• Submit travel receipts weekly.
• Maintain travel schedules and documentation.
• Respond promptly to communications.
