Job Title: Teacher Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Reports to: Principal Pay Grade: Teacher Salary Schedule
Dept./School: PreK - 12 Length of Contract: 10.0/10.5/11.5 months
Primary Purpose: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for the subject and level assigned
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of the core academic subject assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience: At least one year of student teaching or approved internship
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements and show written evidence of preparation.
- Prepare lessons reflecting accommodations for different learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to TEA, board policies, and regulations.
- Plan and use instructional strategies, activities, and materials suited to students’ learning needs.
- Assess student learning styles and use results for planning.
- Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula per IEPs.
- Work with staff to determine instructional goals and methods.
- Supervise teacher aides and volunteers.
- Use technology to enhance teaching and learning.
Student Growth and Development
- Assist students in improving study methods.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of achievement.
- Manage extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor approved outside activities.
- Model positive behavior and support school district mission.
Classroom Management and Organization
- Create a conducive learning environment.
- Manage student behavior per policies.
- Ensure safety and proper use of resources.
- Assist in selecting instructional materials.
Communication
- Maintain open communication with stakeholders.
- Build professional relationships.
- Present information clearly and effectively.
Professional Growth and Development
- Participate in staff development.
- Stay informed of policies and regulations.
- Maintain required documentation.
- Attend meetings and serve on committees.
