2025-2026 Sign-On Bonus: Speech/Language Pathologists
  • In-State Applicants residing 100 or more miles away: 2025-2026 Sign-on Bonus for fully licensed Speech Language Pathologists (SLP) totaling $6,000 paid in three (3) installments of $2,000 each on the first pay of each contract year for three years. Failure to return each contract year will result in forfeiture of the remaining bonus payments.
  • Out-of-State Applicants: 2025-2026 Sign-on Bonus for fully licensed Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) who live full-time out of the state at the time of hire totaling $10,000 paid as follows:
    • Fiscal Year 2026 (25-26 School Year): $5,000
    • Fiscal Year 2027 (26-27 School Year): $2,500
    • Fiscal Year 2028 (27-28 School Year): $2,500
Fairfield County ESC Speech/Language Therapist

Reports to: Director of Student Services

Service Locations: Various districts in Fairfield County

Critical Roles
  • Working Across All Levels — SLPs provide appropriate speech-language services in Pre-K, elementary, middle, junior high, and high schools with no school level underserved.
  • Serving a Range of Disorders — SLPs work with students exhibiting the full range of communication disorders, including those involving language, articulation (speech sound disorders), fluency, voice/resonance, and swallowing.
  • Ensuring Educational Relevance — SLPs address personal, social/emotional, academic, and vocational needs that have impact on attainment of educational goals.
  • Providing Unique Contributions to Curriculum — SLPs provide a distinct set of roles based on their focused expertise in language, aiding learning for students with disabilities and at risk.
  • Highlighting Language/Literacy — SLPs contribute significantly to literacy achievement of students with communication disorders and other learners at risk.
  • Providing Culturally Competent Services — SLPs distinguish a language disorder from cultural/linguistic differences, enabling accurate identification and services.
Range of Responsibilities
  • Prevention — SLPs are involved in preventing academic failure (e.g., RTI) using evidence-based practice.
  • Assessment — SLPs conduct assessments with others to identify communication disorders and inform instruction.
  • Intervention — SLPs provide appropriate interventions tailored to each student's needs.
  • Program Design — SLPs configure schoolwide programs that employ a continuum of service delivery models.
  • Data Collection and Analysis — SLPs gather and interpret data to evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Compliance — SLPs meet federal, state, and local mandates (IEP development, Medicaid billing, report writing).
Collaboration
  • With Other School Professionals — Work with teachers, specialists, therapists, psychologists, counselors, and others to support instructional programs.
  • With Universities — Build relationships and serve as resources for university personnel and students.
  • Within the Community — Collaborate with physicians, private therapy practitioners, agencies, private schools, vocational rehabilitation.
  • With Families — Engage families in planning, decision making, and program implementation.
  • With Students — Involve students in goal planning, implementation, monitoring, and self-advocacy.
Leadership
  • Advocacy — Advocate for appropriate programs, reasonable workloads, professional development, and influences policy.
  • Supervision & Mentorship — Induct new professionals; supervise student SLPs, clinical fellows, and paraprofessionals.
  • Professional Development — Design and conduct PD sessions for educators and staff.
  • Parent Training — Train parents in communication development and disorders.
  • Research — Participate in research to support evidence-based practice.
