Academics Plus Charter Schools, Inc. (APCSI) is seeking an innovative and qualified Mathematics Teacher for grades 7-12 to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year.
POSITION TITLE: Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Meets Arkansas Qualified Teacher (AQT) Standards
- Valid Arkansas teaching certificate with required endorsements for the subject and level assigned (preferred)
REPORTS TO: Principal
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide students with enrichment activities or remediation two (2) days a week as approved by the principal, COO, or executive director.
- Participate in professional learning communities (PLC) as approved by the principal, COO, or executive director, 3 days a week.
- Work the entire school day and all other scheduled hours, including nights, early mornings, and weekends, such as high school graduation, open house, and fall festival.
- Demonstrate relentless commitment to the academic achievement of all students.
- Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
- Communicate and promote high expectations for student performance; hold students accountable; recognize excellence and achievement.
- Establish and maintain an orderly, supportive classroom environment fostering active participation and respect.
- Assess, track, and provide feedback on student progress and assignments; maintain grade records.
- Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for students with IEPs as needed.
- Assist students in analyzing and improving study methods and habits.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Be a positive role model and support the mission of APCSI.
- Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Meet with parents/guardians to discuss student progress and resource needs.
- Assume responsibility for non-teaching duties as assigned.
- Participate in school functions and activities outside regular hours.
- Communicate positively with students, parents, visitors, and staff in oral and written forms.
- Maintain a positive attitude and represent the school positively at all times.
- Other duties as assigned by the principal.
