Salary: Commensurate with experience

Work Year: 8/18/2025 - 6/2/2026

Days Off: 10 holidays plus winter break (10 days) and spring break (5 days)

Schedule: 8:15am - 3:45pm

Qualifications & Licensure

Illinois Professional Educator License with General Science Grade 5-8 Endorsement

Reports to:

Principal

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Develop and maintain plans for daily science instruction on the NGSS learning standards
2. Utilize teaching methods to meet the wide range of abilities, interests, and levels of students
3. Establish and communicate well-defined objectives for each unit of work, including expectations for assessing student learning
4. Assist in development of, be knowledgeable about, and be guided by the curriculum of the district and the state learning standards
5. Attend and participate in meetings
6. Share ideas and techniques with staff to improve curriculum and teaching; confer with colleagues for student learning enhancement
7. Evaluate individual student progress regularly and maintain records
8. Provide written student progress reports as required
9. Meet with parents/guardians to discuss student needs, challenges, or progress
10. Hold conferences with students as needed
11. Ensure student health and safety, collaborating with related services personnel
12. Collaborate with administration and colleagues to support all students
13. Supervise student behavior on campus and during approved events away from campus
14. Observe district and building policies and regulations
15. Keep records of attendance and tardiness; support student attendance procedures
16. Provide plans and materials for substitute teachers
17. Co-plan, supervise, and support annual science fair activities

Terms of Employment:

10 Month Position; salary and benefits as determined annually by the D28 Board of Education
