Salary Range: From $47,393 to $91,468 at 1.0 FTE*
*Salary range is subject to pending contract negotiations. The 2024-2025 salary ranges are listed for reference.

Position Purpose

To create a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary education, in accordance with each pupil's ability; to establish good relationships with parents and staff.

Responsibilities
  1. Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students.
  2. Teaches district-approved curriculum.
  3. Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
  4. Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subjects as specified by law and district policies.
  5. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials, providing individualized and small group instruction to meet students' needs.
  6. Translates lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
  7. Keeps up-to-date sub notes/plans available.
  8. Communicates regularly with parents outside the classroom through newsletters, notes, phone calls, and conferences.
  9. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to ensure an effective learning atmosphere.
  10. Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, maintains records, and prepares progress reports using district-approved software.
  11. Identifies pupil needs, makes referrals, and develops strategies for individual education plans.
  12. Is available to students and parents outside instructional hours for educational purposes.
  13. Plans and coordinates work of paras, parents, and volunteers.
  14. Creates engaging learning environments with displays, interest centers, and exhibits of student work.
  15. Encourages positive classroom behavior in collaboration with the principal.
  16. Participates in mandatory training as required.
  17. Supervises and monitors recess for safety and positive social interactions.
  18. Ensures a safe, disciplined, and effective educational environment, enforcing school policies.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with qualification to teach Physical Education; ND Teaching License or ability to obtain prior to start date.

Preferred Qualifications

Two to three years of teaching experience; demonstrated experience working with diverse populations.
