    Part time Online Special Education Teacher

    Cologne Academy (PreKindergarten-8th Grade Public School) - Cologne, MN is located in Carver County and currently enrolls approximately 750 students between our onsite and virtual academy. Cologne Academy offers its students an enriched learning experience through the Core Knowledge curriculum and an individualized approach to learning.     The ideal candidate will join a large special education team with an on-site assistant director, school psychologist, full-time school social worker, behavior interventionist, due process secretary, paraprofessionals, all related service providers, and a continuum of intervention services in its MTSS programming.

    Qualifications:

    • Licensed as a Special Education Teacher in Minnesota or licensable if enrolled in a training program or have related experience
    • Excellent skills in communication and collaboration (families and staff)
    • Proficient in delivering instruction in a virtual setting
    • Team oriented – working with other providers, teachers and families

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide live, online specialized instruction as outlined in IEPs (range of services includes reading, math, writing, organizational skills).
    • Provide services based on individual needs in areas such as social skills, behavior regulation, and academics.
    • Develop and implement IEPs that address each child's unique needs.
    • Use evidence-based practices and assessments to monitor progress and adjust instruction and services as needed.
    • Work with classroom teachers to modify expectations for classwork and assignments based on individual student needs and to provide information about accommodations needed in the classroom.
    • Create and implement communication systems with families.
    • Work collaboratively with the Lead Special Education Teacher to identify curricula and instructional materials and online instructional strategies relevant to each student's needs and participate in training on instructional resources available at Cologne Academy.
    • Maintain accurate records, including assessment data, progress reports, and other required documentation for purposes of compliance.
    • Other duties as assigned.
