St. Peter Claver Catholic School

is located in the heart of the historic Rondo neighborhood. We are seeking a team player to join our SPC family! Our small class sizes and family feel make this a perfect place to provide individualized instruction while building one-on-one relationships with scholars.

This candidate will lead a 5th grade, 6th grade, or 5th/6th combined self-contained classroom. As a self-contained classroom teacher, the candidate would teach Math, ELA, Science, Social Studies, and Religion, with support from internal and external coaches. Our experiential approach and self-contained classroom enable cross-curricular projects, fostering leadership and confidence that will benefit students in high school.

Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and deliver engaging instruction in core subjects (Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies) aligned with diocesan curriculum standards and Common Core State Standards while integrating Catholic values and teachings.
  2. Create a supportive classroom environment that promotes spiritual growth, academic excellence, and character development during students' transition from elementary to middle school.
  3. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, including accommodations for students with learning differences and challenges for advanced learners.
  4. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth grade transitions and participate in professional development to improve teaching effectiveness.
  5. Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress through conferences, reports, and digital platforms, while upholding the school's Catholic identity.
  6. Participate in religious activities such as liturgies, prayer services, and celebrations, modeling Catholic values and supporting students' faith journeys.
  7. Utilize educational technology and modern teaching methods to enhance engagement and prepare students for middle school and beyond.
