Position Summary:

Provide intervention in the area of fine motor and sensorimotor skill development under the direction of an occupational therapist. Services are provided in a variety of school settings, ranging from preschool to high school.

Essential Duties:
  • Provides educationally necessary intervention in the area of motor skill development, focusing primarily on fine motor and sensorimotor development, under the general supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
  • Communicates with educational staff, related service staff, parents, caretakers, and other professionals concerned with student's educational program and progress.
  • Develops and maintains appropriate occupational therapy records, i.e.; documentation, schedules, progress notes, IEP, monthly reports, etc.
  • Services are provided in a variety of school settings, ranging from preschool to high school.
  • May travel to various schools in order to provide occupational therapy services in the district schools of students on caseload.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • To ensure continuity of services, alternative work site may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee’s eligibility for alternative work site will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for alternative work site will be distributed by the employee’s supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required):
  • Associate’s Degree as an Occupational Therapy Assistant required
  • Current license awarded by the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision required
  • Successfully completed the academic requirements of an educational program in occupational therapy recognized by the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision
  • Experience working with disabled children
