Description

Propel seeks a High School Special Education Teacher (Grades 9-12) for the 2025-2026 school year. Propel schools operate with an extended school year to increase learning time and opportunities for our scholars. We have 190 instructional days and 30 professional development days for a total of 220 work days annually.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary: $49,985- $100,460 (based on relevant prior work experience)
  • Relocation Allowance: Available for new hires moving to the area from 90 miles away or further.
  • Health Insurance: Medical, dental, and vision plan options at a low cost for individual employees and families.
  • Retirement: Participation in a 403(b); Propel contributes 5% automatically and matches up to 4% after 5 years.
  • Paid Leave: 2 paid Wellness Days, 5 sick days, and 10 Personal Days annually.
  • Tuition Assistance: Reimbursement of up to $3,000 annually for eligible coursework.

Job Summary

This position is accountable for collaborating with administrators and staff to lead special education students to learning success. Responsibilities include developing, modifying, providing, and assessing specialized instruction based on the Pennsylvania Common Core Standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design coherent instruction aligned with state standards.
  • Develop and update learning resources and participate in professional development.
  • Create a respectful instructional environment that promotes learning.
  • Engage students using various instructional strategies.
  • Manage student behavior and classroom procedures effectively.
  • Assess student learning and use information to drive instruction.
  • Develop and implement IEPs, coordinating with relevant personnel.
  • Maintain accurate records and report student progress.
  • Communicate regularly with families.
  • Maximize academic access and expectations for learning.
Qualifications
  • Valid PA certification in Special Education PK-12, 9-12, or N-12.
  • Experience with special education preferred.
  • Knowledge of Special Education principles and assessment practices.
  • Strong instructional and classroom management skills.
  • High level of organization and planning.
  • Ability to develop rigorous lesson plans and assessments.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to utilize data to differentiate instruction.
