Academics Plus Charter Schools, Inc. (APCSI) is seeking an innovative and qualified Math/Science Teacher for grades 5th and 6th to join our SCS team for the 2025-2026 school year.

POSITION TITLE: Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  2. Meets Arkansas Qualified Teacher (AQT) Standards
  3. Valid Arkansas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned preferred.

REPORTS TO: Principal

JOB GOALS: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. As a part of the base salary, the Employee will provide students with enrichment activities or remediation two (2) days a week as approved by the principal, chief operating officer, or executive director.
  2. Participate in professional learning communities (PLC) as approved by the principal, chief operating officer, or executive director 3 days a week.
  3. Work the entire school day and all other hours scheduled, including those on nights, early mornings, and weekends, including but not limited to high school graduation, open house, and fall festival.
  4. Demonstrate relentless commitment to the academic achievement of all students.
  5. Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
  6. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
  7. Communicate and promote expectations for high-level performance from students; hold students accountable for high performance; recognize excellence and achievement.
  8. Establish and maintain an orderly and supportive classroom environment in which students actively participate and show respect for one another and the teacher.
  9. Assess, track, and provide feedback to students on their progress and assignments and maintain a record of grades.
  10. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  11. Help students to analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  12. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  13. Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of Academics Plus Charter School.
  14. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members to establish a positive learning environment.
  15. Meet the parents and guardians to discuss the children’s progress and to determine priorities for their children and their resource needs.
  16. Assume responsibility for assigned non-teaching duties.
  17. Participate in activities that are related to school functions and/or educational processes which occur outside the regular school day.
  18. Provide students with enrichment activities or remediation two days a week as approved by the principal or executive director.
  19. Communicate positively with students, parents, visitors, and staff.
  20. Effectively and positively communicate orally and in writing.
  21. Maintain a positive attitude and represent the school in a positive manner at all times.
  22. Other duties as assigned by principals.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands: Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing; move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
