Position Overview
Create a flexible program and a class environment conducive to learning and personal growth. Establish effective rapport with pupils, motivate them to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge to provide a solid foundation for education, tailored to each pupil’s ability. Foster positive relationships with parents and staff.
Essential Duties
- Provide learning experiences in pre-reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, physical education, and music based on Oklahoma State Department of Education standards.
- Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter as per state law and district regulations.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials suitable for diverse learning needs.
- Translate lesson plans into engaging learning experiences to optimize instructional time.
- Apply fair grading patterns based on clear criteria.
- Maintain standards of pupil behavior to ensure effective participation, treating pupils with respect and dignity.
- Evaluate pupils’ academic and social progress, keep records, and prepare reports.
- Communicate with parents through various means, hold conferences, and interpret the school program.
- Identify pupil needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
- Create a positive, safe, and orderly learning environment.
- Design attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers to enhance learning.
- Supervise students during out-of-class activities, including cafeteria duty, field trips, and playground supervision.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including potential work at alternative sites during crises.
Job Requirements
To succeed, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
- Oklahoma Teaching Certification in Elementary Education or approved alternative certification.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, parents, and community.
- Ability to collaborate, demonstrate self-discipline, and follow guidelines.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Manual dexterity for writing and computer use.
- Visual acuity for reading and interpreting materials.
- Clear speech and normal hearing for effective communication.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities like bending and stretching.
- Sitting for extended periods; occasional work outside normal hours.
Work Environment
- Office duties performed in well-lit, climate-controlled settings.
