2025-2026 Early Childhood Education Teacher

Join to apply for the 2025-2026 Early Childhood Education Teacher role at Oklahoma City Public Schools.

Position Summary: Create a flexible program and a class environment conducive to learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with pupils; motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a strong foundation for education, tailored to each pupil’s ability; and foster positive relationships with parents and staff.

Essential Duties:

  • Provide learning experiences across various subjects using the adopted curriculum and other appropriate activities.
  • Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subjects as per state law and district regulations.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials suitable for a diverse range of learners.
  • Translate lesson plans into engaging learning experiences to optimize instructional time.
  • Use fair grading patterns based on clear criteria.
  • Maintain standards of pupil behavior to promote effective participation while respecting the informal atmosphere of a kindergarten classroom.
  • Evaluate pupils’ academic and social progress, keep records, and prepare reports.
  • Communicate with parents via various means, hold conferences, and interpret the school program.
  • Identify pupil needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
  • Establish rapport and create a safe, orderly, and engaging learning environment.
  • Design attractive displays and interest centers to enhance learning.
  • Supervise students during out-of-class activities, including duties like cafeteria, playground, and hallway monitoring.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including possible work at alternative sites during health crises or disruptions.

Job Specifications: Successful performance requires meeting the following minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
  • Oklahoma Teaching Certification in Elementary Education or approved alternative certification.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.
  • Ability to work cooperatively, demonstrate self-discipline, follow guidelines.

Physical/Mental Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity for writing and computer tasks.
  • Visual acuity for reading and interpreting materials.
  • Normal hearing and clear speech for communication.
  • Ability to perform physical activities, including occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Sitting for extended periods.
  • Occasional work outside normal hours, including weekends, under stressful conditions.

Work Environment: Office duties are performed in a well-lit, climate-controlled environment.
