School Year: 2025-2026
Location: Basalt High School
Reports to: Basalt High School Principal
Classification: Certified Exempt - Full-Time (1.0 FTE / 40 hours per week)
Contract Period: 185 working days.

Salary Range

  • *$54,000 to $82,320 (Based on education and years of relevant teaching experience) *The annual salary listed above is based on a full-time, 8-hour workday (FTE 1) and a full working calendar. For positions with less than a full FTE or reduced hours, such as part-time or late-start positions, the salary will be prorated accordingly.

Position Overview

  • The Secondary Math and Computer Science Teacher is responsible for delivering a dynamic and comprehensive curriculum that integrates both mathematics and computer science concepts for secondary school students. The teacher will design and implement engaging lesson plans, assess student progress, and cultivate a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and mastery of mathematical and computational principles. Additionally, the teacher will actively contribute to extracurricular STEM activities, including coaching students for competitions and providing hands-on, experiential learning opportunities outside of regular class hours. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the selected candidate will serve as a Crew Leader for a group of students throughout the academic year. As a Crew Leader, the teacher will act as an advocate for students, serve as the primary point of contact between parents and the school, build meaningful relationships, and create impactful experiences. This role also includes monitoring and supporting students' academic and social progress.

Necessary Credentials

  • Bachelor degree or higher from an accredited institution in Mathematics, Computer Science or related field of study.
  • MUST have an active Colorado Teaching License in Secondary Mathematics, Computer Science, or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment. If additional coursework or a preparation program is required, the applicant must provide proof of enrollment and submission of the required documentation to the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) within 30 days of employment.
  • Official transcripts must be provided upon hire. For international transcripts, an evaluation is required through a member organization of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).

Desired Qualifications & Core Competencies

  • Strong understanding of both mathematical theory and practical programming skills.
  • Ability to foster a deep understanding of abstract mathematical concepts while relating them to real-world applications.
  • Experience with STEM-related extracurricular activities, such as coding clubs, math competitions, or robotics teams.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage a diverse range of student needs and classroom responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

  • May include, standing and walking for extended periods; bend, stoop, and lift materials; reach for supplies on high shelves; use manual dexterity for tasks like writing and using technology; communicate clearly and effectively with students; climb stairs in multi-level buildings.
