Purpose of Job

Responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the facility to provide a safe and clean environment. This position involves heavy manual and repetitive tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Complete cleaning schedules for assigned areas.
• Understand chemicals and processes used in cleaning (training provided).
• Maintain a positive attitude with staff; minimal interaction with students and visitors.
• Report unsafe conditions to supervisor.
• Observe and report cleaning and maintenance needs.
• Policing facility grounds as needed.
• Assist with snow removal from sidewalks, steps, and driveways.
• Secure area at the end of shift.
• Move furniture as directed.
• Operate power cleaning equipment.
• Clean classrooms, offices, locker rooms, stairs, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, kitchens, gyms, and fixtures.
• Perform non-school day projects.
• Maintain cleaning equipment after use.
• Participate in fire drills.
• Change light bulbs as needed.
• Conserve energy by turning off unused lights and equipment.
• Perform all cleaning tasks as directed by the Head Custodian.
• Operate various power machines and equipment.
• Wash windows inside and out.
• Mow grass and shovel snow as needed.
• Perform minor repairs to equipment and building.
• Move furniture.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

None

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one year of custodial maintenance experience.

Physical Demands

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, reach, bend, stoop, lift objects of at least 50 pounds, climb, and balance.

Terms of Employment

Maximum of 25 hours per week; flexible hours. No benefits provided.
