PURPOSE OF JOB: Provide leadership for the school’s entire athletic program through the ongoing development, implementation, and improvement of specific sport coached.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Coordinate specific sport with a full team in compliance with MSHSAA standards.
  2. Assist in implementing athletic standards as outlined in the MSHSAA Handbook and attend all MSHSAA required sessions.
  3. Assist in the coordination of the program.
  4. Assist in the supervision of students at practices and contests.
  5. Help provide information for transportation, facilities, officials, and game management.
  6. Help organize and schedule practice sessions on a regular basis with the objective of developing the student-athlete’s greatest potential.
  7. Emphasize safety precautions and be aware of the best training and injury management procedures.
  8. Conduct team and self in an ethical manner during practices and contests, always exemplifying the highest standards of sportsmanship.
  9. Assist in getting the systematic return of all school equipment in accordance with the KCMSD Athletic Department Handbook.
  10. Continue professional growth through clinics and professional publications.
  11. Must successfully complete the MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Courses.
  12. Must fulfill 8 contact hours of professional development: District level meetings – 4hrs; School level meetings - 3hrs; Outside meetings/Clinics – 1hr.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

Must have a Teacher's Certificate or valid Substitute Certificate or Temporary (provisional) Teacher’s Certificate.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Be a full or part-time employee in the District. Employed in the school as a teacher or administrator in which the candidate applies for a position.
