Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking a 2nd/3rd shift Press Operator for its Eagan, Minnesota printing plant. You will operate state-of-the-art offset and digital presses, lead a mid-level team, and drive quality and efficiency on each job run.

The role includes a $2,500 sign-on/role bonus after 90 days, with shift differentials of $4.00 for 2nd shift and $5.00 for 3rd shift, and occasional overtime/weekend work. Strong mechanical aptitude and teamwork are required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Vocational/technical degree preferred.
  • Experience leading and training others in an industrial setting.
  • Strong mechanical/technical skills with troubleshooting ability.
  • Lean concepts and continuous improvement knowledge.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, maintenance instructions, and production orders.
  • Able to lift at least 5 lbs. above shoulder and up to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly stand, walk, crouch, bend, reach, and kneel.

Job description

We are hiring a #2 Press Operator for our printing plant team in Eagan, Minnesota. As a #2 Press Operator, you will be responsible for working as a Mid-Level Operator on our Core Publishing Solutions team. You will be operating state-of-the-art offset and digital web presses. For this role, you would also be eligible for $2,500 in bonuses bonus upon being in the role for 90 days. Hours of Work – Eagan, Minnesota 3rd shift – 10:30 pm – 6:30 am Monday - Friday Occasional overtime up to 4 hours per day and occasional weekend shifts

About the Role:
  • Reviewing job specifications for material and set-up requirements
  • Performing or delegating set-up tasks
  • Monitoring the equipment and product through the job run to ensure a high-quality product
  • Performing moderately complex trouble‑shooting related to product or equipment
  • Communicating effectively during shift and at shift hand-off
  • Evaluating mechanical condition of equipment, completing preventive maintenance; involving Maintenance as needed
  • Using computer-based workflow applications to manage files
  • Accurately documenting activities on Tier Boards and in relevant systems (MII, SAP), i.e., material usage, equipment issues, etc
  • Accurately marking, verifying, and tagging loads correctly to ensure inventory accuracy
  • Providing work direction to others, whether direct crew or other individuals in the workstream
  • Actively participating in company safety programs and contributing to a safe culture
  • Performing training as needed
  • Meeting or exceeding established quality and productivity standards utilizing standard work procedures
  • Implementing, performing and sustaining housekeeping procedures to maintain work area and equipment
  • Participating in project teams as needed.
  • Recommending and implementing process improvements
  • Filling in for other Operators as needed including covering absences or breaks
About You:
  • Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher.
  • Candidates with a vocational/technical degree are strongly preferred
  • Experience leading and training others
  • Experience working in an industrial setting with a wide range of production machinery
  • Strong mechanical and technical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot, and work independently and as part of a team to resolve issues
  • Solid understanding of Lean concepts and continuous improvement
  • Competent with rulers and measurement
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and production orders
  • Can regularly lift at least 5 lbs. above the shoulder as well as push, pull and lift at least 10 lbs occasionally up to 50 lbs
  • Regularly standing walking, crouching, bending, reaching and kneeling

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations. For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation hourly range for this role is $18 USD – $34 USD. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
