Job summary

JAUNT is hiring for full-time CDL Bus Operators in Buckingham County. CDL w/ P endorsement required.

Jaunt's operators are responsible for operating transit service vehicles, including transit vans and buses up to 28 passengers, used in public transportation across Charlottesville City, Albemarle County, Nelson County, Greene County, Fluvanna County, Buckingham County, and Louisa County. Operators are responsible for passenger and equipment safety, routine vehicle inspections, and effective communication with customers, supervisors, and peers. They oversee passenger safety, resolve issues, and provide excellent customer service. Punctuality and independence are essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate transit vehicles to transport passengers according to schedule.
• Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Communicate with dispatchers regarding vehicle issues or service interruptions.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations.
• Maintain a professional appearance (safety vest, Jaunt shirt).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Virginia CDL with P endorsement and positive point balance.
• Ability to operate vehicles safely.
• Successful completion of a 4-week operator training course.
• Good judgment and adaptability to changing conditions.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or electronic instructions from dispatchers or supervisors.

Sign-on Bonus Schedule

• $500 upon completing training.
