We are looking for a caring, energetic, Jesus-loving, qualified assistant teacher in our transitional twos class!

Responsibilities include but are not limited to
  • Build culturally responsive relationships with up to 14 students, their families, and other team members.
  • Develop a comprehensive knowledge and follow state regulations, Paths to QUALITY requirements, and Conscious Discipline.
  • Attend all required staff in-service meetings and workshops.
  • Participate in 20 hours of training per year.
  • Maintain current CPR, First Aid, and Universal Precautions training.
  • Implement lesson plans as directed by the lead teacher.
  • Assist with managing the classroom through Conscious Discipline and establish routines and expectations. Quickly intervene as appropriate when a situation is unsafe.
  • Greet children and families upon arrival and connect at dismissal.
  • Interact with all children throughout the day during each activity.
  • Have a constant awareness of how many children are in the room and maintain required ratios.
  • Facilitate mealtimes - set the table, serve food, demonstrate manners, fill out appropriate documentation, assist children with clean up
  • Assist children with diapering and/or toileting and hand washing. This may include lifting children ten to thirty pounds onto the changing table.
  • Clean and sanitize tables, changing tables, and toys.
  • Create a calming environment during naptime, pat children as needed, and provide alternate activities for non-nappers.
  • Assist the lead teacher with assigned duties and activities.

Expectations: Assistant teachers should familiarize themselves with the routines of the classroom. Clear communication with the lead teacher is essential. Assistant teachers need to be observant, quick thinking, patient, and safety-oriented. Assistant teachers should be friendly towards children and families as well as other team members. Assistant teachers are required to be caring, flexible, and energetic.

Qualifications: Assistant teachers must be at least eighteen years of age or older and have a minimum of a high school diploma or the equivalent.
