Responsibilities

  • Monitors efficiency and initiates corrective actions to meet targets.
  • Trains new employees and ensures compliance with WI and procedures.
  • Coordinates with Quality on issues and implements corrective actions.
  • Addresses employee issues with management and HR as needed.
  • Completes performance evaluations and maintains attendance records.
  • Directs leads in tagging non-conforming materials and safety compliance.

Description

INTRODUCTION: This position reports to Production Manager. It is solely accountable for the fulfillment of all assigned duties and has authority delegated commensurate with assigned responsibilities.

WELDING SUPERVISOR: Performs duties associated with all welding areas of production.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Include, but are not limited to:
  • a) Runs and coordinates departments based on the production schedule and reports the quantities and salvage to the appropriate Excel sheets as well as the production meeting group.
  • b) Coordinates the production to be within defined HPS goal and within 43 hours/week/employee.
  • c) Enforces and the 5S LEAN housekeeping rules keeps the shop floor clean and organized per company Housekeeping goals.
  • d) Reports and monitors efficiency per employee and develops corrective action if operator or equipment is not meeting efficiency goals. Also ensures that each employee runs the operation at a maximum efficiency level.
  • e) Demonstrates equipment operations or work procedures to new employees or assigns employees to experienced workers for training and verifies that they follow work instructions.
  • f) Verifies/assures that all work instructions are in place on a daily basis.
  • g) Initiate tickets for the Major/Minor and safety critical program and responsible for retraining of employees when infraction occurs.
  • h) Confers with Quality Department on quality issues and take appropriate corrective action as related to product already built and current production.
  • i) Confers with management, Human Resources and/or subordinates to resolve employee issues, complaints or grievances.
  • j) Completes all employee performance evaluations.
  • k) Initiates Discipline Documentation with the employee per JOST’s Policies.
  • l) Verifies employee attendance and records and coordinates with Human Resources for accurate timekeeping.
  • m) Communication with Maintenance Department on equipment downtime issues.
  • n) Directs and ensures that area Leads are properly tagging and placing all non-conforming materials in properly located and designated areas by the end of the shift.
  • o) Ensures that all safety standards and company policies are followed in their area of responsibility.
  • p) Required to effectively participate in corrective action teams in order to address the root cause in a timely manner.
  • q) Any additional duties that have not been specifically stated, but which may be assigned and those that are logically and properly inherent to this position.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
  • a) Good, solid leadership abilities with the ability to create and maintain a good teamwork environment.
  • b) Minimum of two years of prior work experience in welding with supervision.
  • c) Microsoft Office knowledge and work experience: Outlook and Excel.
  • d) Capable of using applicable hand tools correctly and safely.
  • e) Ability to enforce company rules and policies.
  • f) Ability to gain knowledge of company products, quality, and safety policies.
  • g) Good interpersonal and excellent communication skills.
  • h) Capable of working in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • i) Highly dependable, motivated and self-driven with excellent attendance.
  • j) Ability to follow, understand and strictly abide by the Work Instructions. (WI)
  • k) High level of attention to detail is a must.
  • l) Able to read and write legible as defined by company standards.
  • m) Basic math skills as defined by company standards.
  • n) Ability to gain knowledge of company products and company quality procedures.
  • o) Ability to operate a fork lift,
  • p) Understanding of Basic Processes.
