Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR is seeking an experienced welder to join our Milwaukee production team. The role involves MIG welding of railway components, reading blueprints, and setting up parts per fixtures and drawings.

You will preheat parts, weld up to 2 inch plates, and inspect welds for accuracy. The ideal candidate has welding training within the last two years or 5+ years of experience without a certificate, with strong attention to detail and safety, and is comfortable working flexible hours

Qualifications

• Proven welding experience with MIG and ability to read basic welding drawings.
• Certificate or training within past 2 years preferred; 5+ years if no certificate.
• Experience reading blueprints and measuring to exact tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Weld assigned parts during railroad equipment manufacture per specifications.
• Set up and secure parts/assemblies using fixtures and blueprints.
• Preheat parts up to 450 degrees F as required.
• Weld plates or parts up to 2 inches thick.
• Inspect grooves, angles, gaps, squareness, and imperfections.
• Remove rough spots with grinders; finish surfaces as needed.
• Weld components in flat, vertical, or angled positions.
• Utilize measuring devices to ensure proper alignment per blueprint.

Position Summary

Welding assigned parts during the manufacture process of railroad equipment including set up and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications, using fixtures and/or blue prints combined with measuring devices.

Specific Responsibilities

• Ability to weld with MIG Wire up to .045
• Preheat parts up to 450 degrees F
• Weld plates or parts up to 2" in thickness
• Inspect grooves, angles, and gap allowances, squareness or imperfections on parts
• Remove rough spots from work piece, using a grinder, hand chisel, or pneumatic chisel
• Weld components in flat, vertical or angled positions
• Set up parts per blueprint drawing using fixtures or other measuring devices
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

• 1-2 years of prior welding experience with a weld certificate of training (within the past 2 years)
• 5+ years of recent experience if no certificate of training
• Experience using MIG welding machines and with daily set up and maintenance
• Ability to read basic welding blueprints
• Ability to use and read a tape measure to l/32nds of an inch
• Ability to use carpenter's square, combination square, level; and, basic welding tools
• Experience using pneumatic/electric grinders
• Good relations, communication skills, and must be able to interact well with co-workers and management
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and imperfections in parts or work
• Work with set goals and meeting deadlines
• Must be able to work in a team environment and be willing to work flexible hours and weekends as required
