Welder is an entry level position with no certification required. The purpose for an operator at this level is to learn and train on the basic understandings of all welding specific operations. Welders must obtain a basic level ability to set up and operate a variety of automatic and manual equipment to produce precision parts with immediate supervision by a certified Welder (level II or above). Welder follows and complies with established standard work under immediate supervision in efforts to obtain certification. Welder will typically refer problems or deviations to more experienced operators including Lead Technicians, Supervisors, or engineers.

External candidates will receive a $3,000 sign on bonus.

What You Will Do

  • Learn how to set up and operate automatic and manual welding machines according to specifications.
  • Learns how to perform cleaning operations as may be required as performed in production.
  • Learns how to inspect and check dimensions using precision gauges and measuring instruments.
  • Learns alloy and assembly operations for furnace operations
  • Learns how to operate the CNC equipment as required to complete the weld.
  • Performing cleaning operations after welding as may be required to complete the weld.
  • Learns how to perform non-production welds.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and specifications sheets.
  • Accurately complete production documentation and performs necessary labor transactions.
  • Support and follow all rules/guidelines/standards set by EHS, Quality, and CI functions as set by your leader and position.
  • Actively participates in the Continuous Improvement process as well as safety related activities.
  • Working extended shifts/overtime as required by the business.
  • Some Holiday hours may be required based on business need.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a HS Diploma or vocational/technical education in related discipline.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Manufacturing background
  • TIG welding background
  • Ability to learn how to read and understand prints.
  • Computer experience (e-mail, print documents, internet) and ability to learn how to operate a computer to access prints and/or specified work instructions.
  • Basic shop math including knowledge of Geometric Tolerances
