Job summary

A leading company is seeking an entry-level Welder to assemble steel window and door frames using MIG and stick processes. This role requires the ability to interpret technical drawings and operate various welding equipment safely. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and at least 6 months of welding experience.

Qualifications

  • Must pass OSHA welding test.
  • Able to maintain production efficiency and error rates.

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:

Using technical drawings to assemble steel window and door frames. Set up and operate welder, cold saw, band saw, grinding and related tools that remove excess material. sharpen edges or corners, or buff, straighten. hone metal work pieces. Entry level welder focus is on flat bar welding.

Requirements:

  • Use MIG and stick processes to weld flat bars to frames using fillet, partial pen welds according to detail drawings.
  • Lift and position work pieces manually and secure them on tables using clamps.
  • Set and adjust machine controls according to product specifications, utilizing knowledge of the tool operation.
  • Weld and fabricate steel components according to blueprints//CAD drawings/
  • Perform related tasks such as flame cutting. arc gouging and grinding.
  • Wears required PPE and ensures safe operation of all equipment.
  • Works on special projects and performs other duties as needed.

Knowledge:

  • Able to interpret instructions both written and oral.
  • Able to work in a team with co-workers to resolve work-related issues.
  • Knowledge of basic shop math, including the ability to measure to 1/32".
  • Able to pass OSHA welding test.
  • Able to learn to read, understand, and interpret production drawings and shop orders.
  • Able to maintain a 70% production efficiency rating.
  • Able to maintain an error rate less than 5%
  • Able to work with some supervision, 50% or less of schedule.

Physical Demands:

  • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and or up to 30 lbs. of force frequently, and or up to 10lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
  • Lifting - raising objects from a lower to higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to position. This factor is important because it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.
  • Stooping - bending body downward and forward by bending spine and the waist. This factor is important because it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Kneeling - bending legs at the knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Crouching - bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Standing - Particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Pushing - using upper extremities to press against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward, and outward.
  • Pulling - Using upper extremities to exert force to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Visual Acuity - The worker is required to have a visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness. and thoroughness of the work assigned.

Environment:

  • The worker is subject to environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions such as, proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout to be heard above ambient noise level.
