Job summary

Phoenix Metals Company in Broussard, LA is seeking a warehouse associate to support metals processing and distribution. You will perform routine tasks with detailed instructions, move inventory, pull orders, and ensure proper tagging and documentation.

Role requires basic math, accurate handwriting, and ability to lift up to heavy weights. A valid driver’s license and forklift certification are preferred or required where applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required and MVR criteria must be met.
• Experience in warehousing and material handling preferred.
• Certification to operate motorized handling and rigging equipment may be required.
• Clear oral and written communication skills and legible handwriting.
• Ability to read instructions and perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Move inventory and equipment, fill customer orders and unload/load material.
• Receive, store, and relocate items within stock locations.
• Pull and assemble orders based on orders or documentation.
• Tag material for identification and complete required documentation.
• Operate forklifts, side loaders, or cranes as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.

Job Function

• Generally responsible for completing basic, routine tasks with detailed instructions.
• Responsible for moving inventory or equipment, filling customer orders, pulling material from racks, unloading incoming material, loading trucks and/or customer vehicles, & helping maintain the upkeep of the warehouse.
• Receives, places/returns items into stock inventory locations.
• Pulls and assembles orders based on reviewing work/shipping orders or other documentation.
• Tags material for proper identification and completes all required documentation.
• Moves material from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas using forklift, side loader, or crane.
• Operates yard truck for the purpose of loading and unloading trailers.
• Maintains work area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
• Sorts and places material on rack, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, or product code.
• Spot checks on inventory, completes daily and/or ad hoc checks for proper tagging of material, as directed.
• Reports any irregularities to supervisor for direction.
• Restocks material.
• May occasionally drive motor vehicle (non-DOT truck) for local deliveries and parts pick-ups.
• Responsible for adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.

Required Skills

• 1-2 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
• High School diploma/GED preferred.
• Must possess a Valid Drivers License.
• Ability to meet current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) quality criteria as defined by Federal regulations and/or company policy required.
• Warehousing and material handling experience preferred.
• Must be able to obtain a certification to operate all required motorized material handling and rigging equipment.
• Clear oral and written communication skills, particularly legible handwriting required.
• Ability to show adequate manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination required.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions as applied to work situations required.
• Basic measurement skills, including taking, converting, and/or using measurements of length, width, height, and weight to perform basic math computations correctly required.
• Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions required.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively required.
