This position is primarily responsible for the receipt, storage and distribution of materials, equipment, and products in our warehouse.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential: (90%)
- Load and unload heavy window and door units from delivery truck by manual lift and manual lifting aids (ie, skateboards, handles, push carts).
- Maneuver window and door product for safe and efficient transport using balance and coordination. Units are very large and awkward (for example, a Designer series sliding door is 8ft by 6ft and weighs approximately 800 lbs).
- Operate industrial lift truck (“picker”) to transport some product around the warehouse and to access second and third level storage only when certified by the Warehouse Manager. Harnesses must be worn at all times when accessing second and third levels.
- Update the Warehouse Management System, utilizing hand-held scanners, when product is received from Pella, loaded onto a delivery truck, or anytime it is moved to a new location within or outside the warehouse.
- Cross-verify loaded/unloaded product for accuracy and completeness using load list and scanner.
- Verify product is undamaged exiting the inbound Pella truck and as it is moved around the warehouse using visual judgment.
- Pick product for delivery and customer pick-up from designated schedule by matching inventory numbers to location on list. Always scan moved product.
- Interact with Warehouse Working Lead, Customer Satisfaction Team Specialists, Information Technologies, and/or Warehouse Manager to resolve problems in person or via telephone.
- Interact with external and internal customers for customer pick-up of product. Assist customers with safe handling of product. Complete all necessary paperwork and obtain necessary signatures.
- Process warehouse documentation in a timely and accurate fashion while ensuring the document(s) is routed to the appropriate personnel upon completion.
- Occasionally uses computer inventory software to verify data.
Non-Essential: (10%)
- Properly dispose of cardboard, shrink wrap, and other waste materials for recycling or trash.
- Operate cardboard bailer as needed. Operate trash compactor as needed.
- Daily maintenance check and charging of industrial lift truck. (Industrial lift trucks and charging area are maintained by an outside vendor.)
- Clean shop floors using ride-on floor cleaner and broom.
- Various cleaning of other areas of the Oak Industrial facility.
- Assist with home show display transport and set-up during home show season.
- Perform manual cycle counts to measure inventory accurately.
- All other duties as assigned.

- Bring security badge to work each day. Will notify management immediately if lost.
- Ensure that orders are loaded safely and in a manner that will prevent damage in transit.
- Communicate ideas for process improvement to management.
- Follows established schedule and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Stays on task without supervisor direction. When finished with assigned tasks, will work to clean and organize work area.
Knowledge/Skills/Requirements
- High-School diploma or equivalent is required
- Industrial Lift Truck License
- Effectively & efficiently handle customer concerns; basic verbal communication; basic listening skills; basic problem solving skills
- Maintain clean criminal record
- Read and understand written and oral instructions; match series of numbers & letters.
- Use of cell phone, hand held scanners, and basic computer data entry skills.
