Job summary

Liberty Diversified International in Brooklyn Park, MN is seeking a dedicated Utility Operator I to support machine operators and help safely produce high-quality corrugated products. You will assist with setup, perform quality checks, stack orders, and communicate issues to maximize equipment efficiency.

The role reports to a Production Supervisor and requires overtime availability, a high school diploma or GED, and a willingness to learn and grow within a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or 1+ years manufacturing experience.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions.
• Must be available for overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the setup of orders according to customer specifications and readiness processes.
• Assist machine operators during quality checks and inspect articles for issues to ensure quality.
• Monitor production metrics to track progress, quality, maintenance needs and downtime.
• Communicate equipment issues to leaders and assist with troubleshooting to maximize efficiency.
• Intermittently assist with minor repairs in partnership with maintenance.
• Keep the work area clean and follow post order cleaning procedures.
• Follow plant safety processes and procedures.

Asa Utility Operator IwithLiberty Packaging, you will contribute to the growth of our business by being a key player in safely producing quality corrugated products for our customers. You will work within a small group as a utility operator; in this role, you will support machine operators to maximize machine efficiency by assisting with setting up orders correctly, performing quality checks, stacking orders, and communicating issues. In some locations, the Utility Operator I roles are also occasionally asked toassist in operatingfinishing machines / tasks (gluers, stitchers, slitter, and saw machine operation).

This full-time position reports directly to a Production Supervisor and is located at our Brooklyn Park, MN, manufacturing facility.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Supportmachineoperationbyassisting with the setup ofordersaccordingto customer specifications,followingorder readinessprocessofefficientlypreparingtheright toolsto complete thejob.
• Assistmachineoperators duringquality checksbyinspectinga first article, andarticles throughout the orderto identifyissues,ensuringquality product,along withmonitoringequipment and raw materials.
• Support the operator in monitoringproductionmetricstoaccuratelytrackprogressof production rates, quality, maintenanceneeds,anddowntime.
• Proactively communicateissues with equipment toappropriate leaders,and assist withtroubleshooting,and problem solvingto maximize overall equipment efficiencyand minimize downtime.
• Intermittentlyassist with minor repairs to equipmentin partnership with maintenance team.
• Maintain a clean and organized work areabyfollowingpost ordercleaning process.
• Follow plant safety processes and procedures outlined forthemachine center.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Required Education, Experience And Skills

• High School diploma orGEDequivalentfrom an accredited institutionor 1+ years manufacturingor comparableexperience inplaceof education.
• Previous experienceapplyingmathskillssuch asaddition, subtraction,multiplication,and division.
• Previous experience reading,following,and/orcompleting detailed work instructions.
• Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and holidaysas required.

Preferred Education, Experience And Skills

• Experience reading a tape measureto within 1/16" measurement.
• Experience withcomputerskills such as typing, printing, and data entry.
• Experience within the corrugated industry.
• Experience withoperational excellence orcontinuous improvement programs - Lean 6 Sigma, Kaizen Events.

Compensation & Benefits

The starting pay rate for this position is $22.77 per hour, plus shift differential (If applicable), with an automatic increase to $25.30 per hour upon successful completion of the 60-working-day probationary period. The compensation posted is the anticipated pay for the position at the time of the posting. Some positions may qualify for additional compensation in the form of bonuses.
