Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience as a truck, diesel, heavy-equipment mechanic.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems and heavy-duty vehicle components.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license. CDL is a plus.
  • Must have good mechanical ability or aptitude.
  • Must adhere to lock out / tag out requirements.
  • Must be able to read and write English.
  • Must be able to work safely and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair agricultural trucks, pickups, trailers, and related equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, brake inspections, and fluid checks.
  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, steering, and suspension components.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems using diagnostic equipment and technical manuals.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, and minor equipment modifications when needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts, and maintenance performed.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and complete repairs safely and efficiently.
  • Coordinate with Load & Haul leadership to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all applicable workplace, equipment, and environmental safety procedures.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by leadership and/or management.

1st Shift Truck Maintenance Technician

Essential Functions and Role:

This is a “hands on” non-production support role, required to meet USDA, MIOSHA, HACCP, GMP, and Company standards and Core Values under the supervision of the Load & Haul Manager. Essential functions include:

  • Maintaining, diagnosing and repairing trucks, machinery and vehicles used in the Load & Haul Department
  • Diagnosing mechanical issues
  • Performing repairs to ensure that vehicles are in optimal working condition to support Load & Haul activities
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by leadership and/or management.

    • Protective eye wear
    • Hearing protection
    • Hard hat/bump cap
    • Protective coat (clothing protector) – (if activities require)
    • Forearm protection (if activities require)
    • Steel‑toed, waterproof footwear
    • All other required PPE needed.

  • Ability to work in a repair shop
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift heavy parts and equipment and perform physically demanding work
  • Using fingers, hands, wrists, arms, and shoulders daily.
  • Must be able to write and document.
  • Must be able to obtain a powered industrial truck license.
  • Must be able to physically operate a powered industrial truck, complying with MIOSHA standards, company rules, and owner’s manual.
  • Must be able to use all four limbs.
  • Must have good vision, hearing, coordination, and reaction time.
  • Must be able to bend, reach, and stand for 8 hours or the duration of the shift, in a wet, cold/ variable temperature environment.
  • Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs., using proper lifting technique.
