Job description

Job Purpose

This role is responsible for allocating company employees and resources to meet production schedules and customer expectations. Leads will be responsible for assigning assemblers to workstations, providing training for new and current employees, verifying the quality of assembly work, and setting up/clearing work areas between jobs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This position is required to assure compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including but not limited to Quality Systems Regulations, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, government occupational health and environmental regulations and statutes).

Employee Oversight
  • Assign Assembly employees to jobs based on their skill sets and abilities
  • Monitor job status and employee performance on active jobs
  • Complete training documentation for each job/employee
  • Set‑up work centers and equipment for assembly employees
  • Set up applicators and semi‑automated terminal presses
  • Complete line clearance after jobs are complete
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues
Safety and Cleanliness
  • Adhere to all safety regulations
  • Identify and report any safety concerns
  • Maintain a clean work environment by cleaning workstation and plant areas as assigned
  • Ensure all production employees follow all safety regulations
Communications
  • Communicate job related status or issues with production, quality, and engineering supervisors or managers
  • Attend meetings to discuss job statuses and issues
  • Report or request changes to processes to better assembler safety, part quality, or cost savings
Documentation and Training
  • Provide skills and job training for new employees on company processes, procedures, equipment, and documents
  • Pick parts to jobs as required by job traveler
  • Record the necessary information to ensure accurate job documentation
  • Complete actions in ERP system to document inventory and process completion
Inspection, Testing, and Repair
  • Inspect assemblies for proper form and function per print and process sheet
  • Use testing equipment to verify part quality
  • Report and communicate quality issues
  • Sort and repair non‑conforming products
  • Repair/rework complex assemblies
  • Initiate NCR and quarantine non‑conforming product
Electro‑Mechanical Assembly
  • Assemble any level of electro‑mechanical assembly as required
  • Work independently or lead small groups to complete assemblies
  • Lead production lines as necessary
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to motivate and effectively communicate with employees.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor with the ability to communicate with personnel throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately assemble parts using prints, process sheets, specifications, etc.
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to collect and analyze information and keep detailed records.
  • Effectively handles changing priorities with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of assembly operations, specifically production flow and assembly standards.
  • Established ability to participate as a team member or leader to achieve common goals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sense of urgency and self‑motivation; ability to work independently with minimal direction from Manager.
  • Ability to effectively use tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to gather, analyze and present data.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Math skills including the ability to solve fractions, addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication problems.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing equipment and process problems.
  • Knowledge of wire harness and connector manufacturing process.
  • Possess a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience with manufacturing documentation standards (BOM, ECO, revision control, drawing interpretation).
  • Experience effectively working with a diverse group of individuals.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent with 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 Quality Management Systems
  • IPC‑A‑610 or J‑STD certification (can be expired)
Preferred
  • Experience leading teams or projects strongly desired.
  • Lean manufacturing and continual process improvement experience.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles.

Salary: $25 per hour
