Position Summary:

Under general supervision, this position performs various manual packaging functions, such as packaging pouches, tubs, cups, or pails into boxes. Responsibilities include placing empty trays onto filling lines, making and labeling boxes by hand, and performing other tasks as directed by management.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Feed trays and containers into fillers; package trays, cups, and pouches into boxes; close plastic liners in pails and bulk boxes, lid pails, and stack pails or boxes on pallets.
• Hand-make boxes using a hand taper, insert plastic liners, and label cases; prepare pails and drums for filling by applying labels and inserting liners.
• Process re-work and in-process re-work.
• Maintain work area cleanliness, including trash removal, spill cleanup, and cleaning tools and parts to prevent contamination.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of cleaning solutions to prevent contamination.
• Comply with GMP, safety procedures, company policies, quality policies, and HACCP standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Similar to duties listed above; previous packaging experience preferred but not required.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Ability to follow verbal instructions from supervisors and co-workers.
• Capable of inserting up to 30 trays per minute into fillers and stacking pails up to 12 per minute.

Requires physical strength and dexterity, including intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. May involve lifting/moving up to 50 pounds with assistance.

Work Environment:

Typically 8-12 hour shifts, with potential for additional hours, including weekends. Employees must wear PPE as required and may work outdoors or in adverse conditions, including extreme temperatures, vibrations, chemicals, fumes, allergens, confined spaces, and heights.
