Job description

1st shift Oxy/Plasma Burner Operator - O'Neal Manufacturing Services

O'Neal Industries, Inc. | Houston, TX 77007

The Machine Operator may operate a variety of machines in the shop including angle line machine, beveller, saw, shear, oxy or plasma burner, laser cutter, rolling machine, flattening press or machine, shot blaster, manual and robotic welders, press brake, machining center or lathe, and tube or custom laser.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Commitment to workplace safety.
  2. Set-up and operate machines including adjustment and/or replacement of expendable tooling, guides, jigs and fixtures.
  3. Support the safety and quality programs by following all accompanying rules and established processes.
  4. Other duties as assigned.
  5. Housekeeping clean and maintain machinery.
Skills and Qualifications
  1. Ability to operate forklift and cranes.
  2. Ability to read and interpret forming blueprints.
  3. Ability to understand customer tolerances.
  4. Ability to use a variety of hand tools such as hammer, pliers, screwdriver, wrench, drill, grinder and bander.
  5. Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measure, square, caliper, and micrometer.
  6. Ability to convert fractions to decimals and vice versa.
  7. Ability to convert metric to standard.
  8. Provide high quality work to all internal and external customers as related to the output of their position.
  9. Capable of setting up and operating one or more processing machines.
  10. Speak, write and comprehend conversational English.
  11. Strong attention to detail.
  12. High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Physical Requirements
  1. Ability to lift 20-50lbs. repetitively throughout the course of a shift.
  2. Ability to bend, sit, stand, twist, and stoop for long periods of time.
  3. Ability to walk 2-5 miles throughout the course of a shift.
  4. Have good vision 20/30 with corrective lenses.
  5. Ability to maintain coordination of hand and finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects of precision.
  6. Subject to environmental conditions that occur indoors and outdoors including exposure to changing temperatures, loud noises, and vibration from use of equipment.
  7. Hazards: Variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical parts, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  8. Atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odor, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
  9. Oils: There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
