Job summary

Baxter seeks a Quality Lab Associate at its Round Lake, IL facility to support microbiology operations across the manufacturing process.

You will perform biological testing, environmental monitoring, and data recording in a GMP environment, using LIMS and standard lab equipment, with a focus on safety, quality, and timely results. This role starts on first shift with occasional off-shift/holiday work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in microbiology or equivalent with biology/microbiology laboratory setting coursework and 0-2 years experience.
• Proficient in LIMS (laboratory information management systems).
• Background knowledge in basic Biology and Microbiology principles including aseptic technique.
• Knowledge of GLP and pharmaceutical aseptic processing cGMP requirements is preferred but not required.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and in a timely fashion.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude in a highly dynamic environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when required.

Responsibilities

• Participate in functions involving teams to impact production, increase efficiency, solve problems, generate cost savings.
• Drive efficiency through LEAN management principles (5S, Kaizens, etc).
• Communicate with peers and management to ensure awareness of progress and issues; suggest solutions.
• Conduct biological testing on raw materials, in-process and final products and samples from environmental monitoring programs.
• Perform routine facility environmental monitoring and critical systems monitoring.
• Prepare media and reagents for the laboratory.
• Use laboratory instrumentation (particle counters, pH meter, SAS, Autoclave) and LIMS to collect and record data.
• Monitor inventory of supplies and stock where necessary.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and keep lab area clean and organized.
• Author laboratory investigations and procedures; perform revisions of SOPs.
• Prepare data and trend analysis for monthly/quarterly quality system reports.
• Maintain data integrity and ensure compliance with SOPs, FDA, QSR and cGMP.
• Follow Baxter SOPs and safety policies.
• Contribute to other laboratory tasks and projects; work in Drug Delivery and Penicillin facilities as needed.
