Job: Meat Manager

Shift: 1st

We are looking for an effective and efficient manager to oversee the Meat Department, its operations, and associates. The ideal candidate demonstrates servant leadership qualities and fosters positive customer and employee relations.

Job Description:
  • Promote and maintain compliance with store and Meat Department policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Ensure product availability, quality, variety, freshness, and proper display/face.
  • Adhere to all health and civil code regulations related to product handling, processing, and sanitation, including proper handling of damaged or spoiled products.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies, including child labor laws, workers' compensation reporting, and OSHA standards.
  • Monitor department personnel for efficient operations and provide direction and mentoring.
  • Develop weekly work schedules to ensure proper staffing within payroll budgets.
  • Coordinate, delegate, and follow up on departmental tasks to maximize performance, auditing performance, and taking corrective actions as needed.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented, customer-focused attitude within the store and across locations, leading by example.
  • Keep the Store Director informed of concerns or issues requiring attention or resolution.
  • Verify department deliveries against invoices, check product quality, and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Manage vendor relations, purchase products and supplies, and make pricing decisions, including inventory management.
  • Implement merchandising strategies to attract customers, enhance profitability, and optimize space.
  • Collaborate with management to achieve store objectives.
  • Provide training, development, and performance evaluations for staff.
  • Maintain department records, ensure confidentiality, and keep the store manager informed of issues.
  • Address personnel or policy violations with the Store Director.
  • Ensure department staff maintain a neat appearance and adhere to dress code.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the department.
  • Meet performance standards for essential job functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Director or Assistant Store Manager.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Positive communication and customer service skills.
  • Sense of urgency and excellent attendance.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and embrace change.
  • Availability to work holidays, weekends, and varied shifts at different store locations.
  • Experience in training, coaching, and developing staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a retail grocery environment preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and results-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work in environments with cold temperatures and water exposure.
  • Proficiency with equipment such as mixers, grinders, scales, fryers, knives, ovens, and sanitizing tools.
