Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY
The Mechanic will be responsible for locating sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation. Mechanics remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining the form and texture of parts. The Mechanic determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. Additionally, Mechanics will need to document any maintenance that may take place.
KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs scheduled preventive maintenance and repairs on cup packagers and carton sealing equipment.
- Performs preventive maintenance of Paper Machinery (PMC) and Thermoforming Cup Forming Machines.
- Performs preventive maintenance and repair of carton sealers and related conveying equipment.
- Properly and accurately completes all required records, ordering, and other necessary paperwork.
- Proper use and adherence to Lockout/Tagout Procedures.
- Follows precise instructions and directions.
- Reads blueprints and technical diagrams.
- Performs other duties as directed.
- Practices good housekeeping.
- Obeys all safety rules, regulations, and policies.
- Performs tool changeovers on PMC and Sherwood cup forming machines.

Qualifications
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Vocational training in related subjects desired; demonstrated mechanical ability; six months or more related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to stand for long periods; use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, and controls; reach with hands and arms.
- Good handgrip strength and hand-eye coordination.
- Frequently required to climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Work near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions.
- Ability to work in high temperatures and humidity.
- Exposure to fumes and airborne particles from cleaning fluids, oils, paint, and alcohol.
- Exposure to machine parts operating at high temperatures.
