We are currently seeking a Machine Operator to join our team for the First Shift. The Machine Operator will operate production machine tools following specified procedures for quality products. Responsibilities include monitoring machine operations, making quality visual checks, and completing production paperwork and ERP entries.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Read job specifications/travelers/log tickets to determine material requirements.
- Check coil stock at machine to verify correct material requirements.
- Ensure correct position of material in take-up rolls, adjust, and secure work product.
- Monitor multiple machines (high-speed stamping press) that expand copper or aluminum metal.
- Detect defects or machine malfunctions and report immediately.
- Inspect product for visual defects such as broken strands and measure at key points using precision instruments.
- Log in and out of jobs, accurately enter log information into ERP system.
- Perform minor machine maintenance, such as adding oil to reservoirs.
- Remove finished rolls and move to designated area with completed paperwork.
- Wear protective safety equipment such as gloves and goggles.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area through general housekeeping duties.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One to three years of related manufacturing experience preferred.
- Expanded mesh experience is a plus.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic math, reading, understanding, and completing production paperwork.
- Knowledge of machines, tools, production processes, and quality control.
- Ability to use production hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Logical thinking and mechanical ability to define problems, analyze data, and draw conclusions.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask and prioritize.
Work Environment:
- Constant use of hands and arms, reaching, bending, and moving about machinery. Work involves pushing, moving, lifting up to 80 pounds.
- Exposure to grease, chips, oil, chemicals, fumes, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and noise.
- Business travel is not required.
