Job summary

McGill Compost is hiring a General Laborer for our facility in Waverly, VA. This role supports daily composting, production, and site operations with hands-on tasks, material handling, and housekeeping to keep the site efficient and safe.

The position operates on the 1st Shift, Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with occasional overtime and weekends based on business needs. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, PTO, and a daily pay option.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Able to work outdoors in an industrial environment and follow safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform general labor duties throughout the facility and compost site.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and moving materials.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas and equipment.
• Remove debris and maintain housekeeping standards throughout the site.
• Support equipment operators and production personnel as needed.
• Assist with compost production and processing activities.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
