Job summary

Quick Plug in Conover, NC is seeking a 1st Shift CDL Truck Driver for a full-time role. The position drives a tractor-trailer with GVW of at least 26,000 pounds and supports loading, unloading, and material handling at a manufacturing/distribution setting. 40 hours per week with potential overtime.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Check vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in working order.
  • Inventory and inspect goods to determine quantities and conditions.
  • Deliver raw materials to manufacturing plant from distribution center as required.
  • Load and unload trucks and operate loading-related equipment as needed.
  • Drop and hook multiple times throughout the day and rotate products to distribution center.
  • Operate forklift for staging and loading outbound shipments.
  • Maintain logs of hours or vehicle service status per regulations.
  • Obtain receipts or signatures and collect payment when required.
  • Check load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading/unloading positions and secure cargo.
  • Read bill of lading for assignment details.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, or damage.
  • Couple/uncouple trailers and manage air/electrical connections.
  • Operate truck cab computers and radios to exchange information.
  • Inspect trailers after unloading for damage.

Position Summary This position drives a tractor-trailer combination or a truck with a capacity of at least 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Check vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in proper working order.
  • Inventory and inspect goods to be moved to determine quantities and conditions.
  • Deliver raw materials to manufacturing plant from distribution center as required.
  • Load and unload trucks, or assist others with loading and unloading, operating any special loading-related equipment on vehicles and using other equipment as necessary.
  • Drop and hook multiple times throughout the day, rotating completed product to distribution center.
  • Operate forklift to assist in staging and loading outbound shipments as needed.
  • Maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered good and collect payment for services when required.
  • Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and check that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
  • Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers.
  • Read bill of lading to determine assignment details.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to vehicles.
  • Couple or uncouple trailers by changing trailer jack positions, connecting or disconnecting air or electrical lines, or manipulating fifth-wheel locks.
  • Operate equipment such as truck cab computers, CB radios, and telephones, to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers.
  • Check conditions of trailers after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage.
  • Crank trailer landing gear up or down to safely secure vehicles.
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid, or performing minor repairs.
  • Remove debris from loaded trailers.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
