Qualifications

Job description

Position Summary:

The Bending Operator provides daily support, set-up and maintenance of the company's bending equipment. Provides bending support to a lean manufacturing environment while continuously striving for greater equipment and operator efficiency.


Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for all aspects of programming, set up and operation of CNC rotary draw tube benders along with various radius tolling set-ups
  • Ability to maintain and verify benders are up to date on PM's, assist in changing/filling fluids, replacing filters and turning in WO's
  • Ability to proficiently understand rotations
  • Capable of training machine operators of the benders
  • May be required to set-up saws, drill presses and other operations that result in a quality final product
  • Ability to develop bending programs from CAD data and XYZ coordinates
  • Develops continuous improvement ideas such as faster changeovers, ways to reduce scrap during set-ups and runs, etc.
  • Identifies and accurately replaces hardware (standard vs. metric), re-taps holes and cleans-up keyways

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with CNC benders is preferred
  • Experience with quick change overs a plus
  • Experience with BLM and Eaton Leonard benders a plus
  • Working understanding of tube measuring systems such as Romer arms and CMM's
  • Familiarity with additional tube fabrication processes such as coping, notching, swaging and stamping a plus
  • Strong understanding of machine design
  • AutoCAD and reading blueprints are a plus
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends and other shifts
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; written and verbal
  • Organization, accuracy and attention to detail are important
  • Skills to effectively manage time and meet all necessary deadlines
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated dependability
  • Demonstrated adherence to all safety regulations

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 years manufacturing technician or engineering experience required
