Job summary

JBS Prepared Foods in Council Bluffs, IA, is seeking a 1st shift Electrical/Automation Maintenance Technician. The role focuses on maintaining and troubleshooting electrical control systems including PLCs, HMIs, and drives, with hands-on work in a fast-paced production environment.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in electrical/automation engineering and at least two years of maintenance experience, plus strong RCA and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in electrical/automation engineering preferred.
• Certification in instrumentation and automation controls preferred.
• Minimum of two years of electrical and/or mechanical maintenance experience.
• Demonstrated RCA experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Design, specify, validate, modify, monitor, and troubleshoot electronic control systems including PLC logic, HMIs, electrical drives, relay logic, motor controls, and instrumentation systems.
• Configure and support Allen-Bradley (Rockwell) PLC and HMI control systems.
• Install and program variable frequency drives (VFDs).
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and control drawings.
• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment using electrical diagnostic tools and calibrated test equipment.
• Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and process improvements.
• Design and build electrical enclosures per NEC codes and standards.
• Perform vision system calibrations and basic network setup.
• Report to Maintenance Supervisor
