Job description

JOB: Assistant Store Manager

Shift: 1st

SCOPE OF POSITION:

An Assistant Store Manager is responsible for assisting with the coordination of store operations. They work under the guidance of the Store Director to organize, plan, and implement a strategy. They also ensure store schedules and objectives are met by team members while monitoring inventory and ordering merchandise based on demand.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Assist with providing day-to-day direction and coordination of store location.
  2. Promote and maintain compliance to all local, state, and federal laws as well as company and department policies and Standard Operating Procedures. This includes understanding and following Child Labor Laws, Workers Compensation reporting requirements, and Occupational Safety and Health standards.
  3. Train assigned personnel, complete appropriate training paperwork in a timely fashion.
  4. Resolve scheduling problems and emergency schedule changes/needs. Responsible for weekly stocker schedule.
  5. Ensure all departments and team members operate efficiently and effectively, following established policies and procedures.
  6. Plan and build displays for advertising merchandise.
  7. Oversee the grocery section, including ordering and stocking functions.
  8. Stay aware of new products arriving in the store and ensure timely shelving.
  9. Provide helpful and accurate feedback during employee performance evaluations.
  10. Promote a flexible, cooperative, positive, team-oriented, customer-focused attitude within store personnel and between store locations. Lead by example.
  11. Keep the Store Director informed of concerns, issues, and necessary actions in a timely manner.
  12. Work with management to achieve store objectives.
  13. Maintain store records, files, accounts, and databases securely and confidentially.
  14. Attend Monday department meetings and communicate pertinent information to staff. Participate in MOD meetings when possible.
  15. Process payroll if necessary, review time and attendance.
  16. Monitor inventory levels to minimize over/under stock and maximize turnover.
  17. Interface with vendors, evaluate, select, and purchase products aligning with store goals. Recommend cost-saving measures when necessary.
  18. Delegate duties to store personnel to ensure maximum performance. Conduct performance audits and take corrective actions as needed. Has disciplinary authority including suspension.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Director, Assistant Manager, or higher management.
