POSITION SUMMARY

As an Assistant Machine Operator II with Liberty Packaging, you will contribute to the growth of our business by being a key player in safely producing quality corrugated products for our customers. You will work within a small team as an assistant operator, supporting machine operators to maximize efficiency by assisting with setting up orders correctly, performing quality checks, stacking orders, and communicating issues. In some locations, the Assistant Machine Operator II roles are also occasionally asked to assist in operating machines such as gluers, stitchers, slitters, and saw machines.

This full-time position reports directly to a Production Supervisor and is located at our Omaha, NE manufacturing facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support machine operation by assisting with the setup of orders according to customer specifications, following the order readiness process, including preparing the right tools to complete the job.
  • Assist machine operators during quality checks by inspecting first articles and throughout the order to identify issues, ensuring quality products, and monitoring equipment and raw materials.
  • Support the operator in monitoring production metrics to track progress, quality, maintenance needs, and downtime.
  • Proactively communicate equipment issues to leaders and assist with troubleshooting to maximize equipment efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Assist with minor repairs to equipment in partnership with the maintenance team.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area following the post-order cleaning process.
  • Follow all plant safety processes and procedures for the machine center.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS
  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution, or 1+ years of manufacturing or comparable experience.
  • Experience applying math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Experience reading, following, and completing detailed work instructions.
  • Availability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience reading a tape measure within 1/16" accuracy.
  • Computer skills such as typing, printing, and data entry.
  • Experience in the corrugated industry.
  • Experience with operational excellence or continuous improvement programs like Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The starting pay rate for this position is $18.00 per hour plus any applicable shift differential. Compensation may vary based on education, certifications, skills, experience, or location. Some positions may also qualify for bonuses.
