Position Summary

Michiana Christian Academy, a private, K-8 Christian school in South Bend, IN, is seeking a passionate and qualified Full-Time 1st Grade Teacher for the upcoming school year. • Deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate instruction in all core subject areas, with a strong emphasis on early literacy.
• Implement Science of Reading-aligned strategies and structured literacy practices in daily instruction.
• Collaborate with a classroom paraprofessional to differentiate instruction and provide targeted student support.
• Create a safe, joyful, and Christ-centered classroom culture that reflects the mission and values of the school.
• Assess student learning regularly using both formative and summative assessments to inform instruction.
• Maintain open and consistent communication with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field
• Valid Indiana teaching credential with Early Literacy Endorsement
• Experience teaching early elementary, preferably 1st grade
• Training or demonstrated experience in Science of Reading (SoR) implementation
• Strong classroom management and instructional skills
• Personal commitment to Christian faith and the integration of faith into teaching
