NSC Staffing is seeking a skilled A-Class Pipe Welder for an exciting opportunity in the shipbuilding and repair industry. If you are experienced in welding on marine vessels and meet the qualifications below, we want to hear from you!

Position Overview

As an A-Class Pipe Welder, you will work with pipe fitters and welders to perform welding tasks on marine vessels. Responsibilities include interpreting technical drawings, reading weld symbols, and ensuring high-quality work while adhering to safety and company standards. This role requires strong mechanical skills and the ability to work independently to ensure team productivity and quality results.

Key Responsibilities

• Pipe Welding: Perform welding on copper nickel, carbon steel, and stainless steel in the 6GR position.
• Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret drawings, welding symbols, and specifications.
• Weld Testing: Pass weld tests as required by company procedures.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with pipe fitters and welders to meet production goals.
• Quality Control: Inspect work and address issues to ensure quality.
• Safety & Compliance: Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean work environment.
• Productivity: Contribute to process improvements and waste reduction.
• Mentoring: Assist in developing team skills.
• Overtime Availability: Willing to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience: At least 1 year as a B-Class pipe welder and 2 years in a similar role.
• Welding Skills: Ability to pass A-Class weld validation tests, including 6GR position welds.
• Certifications: Able to complete onboarding and weld qualification tests.
• Tools: Own a full set of personal tools.
• Knowledge: Understanding of ship terminology, welding procedures, and safety protocols.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic measurements using the metric system.
• Communication Skills: Ability to understand instructions and communicate effectively.

Physical Demands

• Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, squatting, kneeling, lifting up to 50 lbs., and working in confined spaces.
• Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and work at heights above 12 feet.
• Must wear PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, and gloves.
• Work in hot/cold environments with exposure to fumes, particles, and machinery.

Work Environment

This role is based in a fast-paced shipyard environment with high noise levels, humidity, and exposure to mechanical parts, machinery, and chemicals. PPE is required at all times.
