Production, Maintenance & Technical Services

During your shift as a 1st Class Mechanic, you will
  • Recognize and practice safe work habits in all facets of daily duties.
  • Install, rearrange, and align complex equipment while diagnosing complex equipment failures.
  • Dismantle, repair and reassemble complex equipment.
  • Perform work in the mechanic's skill area such as fabrication, assembly, welding, burning,cutting and pipefitting. Cutting welding methods include - oxyacetylene, plasma arc,shielded arc, tungsten arc, flux cored, carbon arc cutting and gouging, and submerged arc.
  • Occasionally perform work in other trades (pipefitter, rigger, rough carpentry, machinist, etc.).
  • Complete routine paperwork as required.
  • Use typical mechanic's toolsand inspection gages.
  • Work from drawings, verbal instructions or sketches.
  • Use involved shop math.
  • Clean debris and lubricant from parts, work area and equipment.
  • Operate production equipment to check work as required.
  • Inspect own and others work for quality and dimensional requirements.
  • Use typical tool room inspection equipment and gages.
  • Read, comprehend, and execute tasks and concepts found in technical operating and maintenance manuals.
  • Repair piping and valves. Install varying lengths of new pipe, valves, and control devices for equipment modification.
  • Routinely rig equipment for lifting with either hoist or cranes.Load routinely run several thousand pounds.
  • Use basic computer skills to access CMMS information.
If you...
  • Hold a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Have prior experience working with rotating equipment or equivalent in a manufacturing environment.
  • Are able to start, stop and operate all shop equipment.
  • Can work with water soluble and oil-based lubricants.
  • Are able to work on ladders, scaffolds and in pits and manually lift 50# intermittently (Heavier parts are lifted using other methods).

The pay rate for this role is $34.44 per the Union's collective bargaining agreement.
