Job description

1st Class Electrician: 2nd Shift (Job ID: 808)

Join to apply for the 1st Class Electrician: 2nd Shift (Job ID: 808) role at Colonna's Shipyard.

This position supports 2nd shift operations (3:30PM - 12:00AM) at our Norfolk, VA shipyard.

Job Description:
  • Perform electrical work requiring thorough knowledge of electrical theory, codes, materials, and equipment operation under supervision.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, USCG, ABS, U.S. Navy, and company safety standards.
  • Prepare, install, maintain, and repair electrical systems on marine vessels, including ferries, dredges, and others.
  • Read schematics and blueprints, plan and install electrical systems and cabling.
  • Install conduit, pull wires, and connect electrical components.
  • Test and troubleshoot electrical systems and components.
  • Operate and maintain generators, switchboards, control panels, and other electrical equipment.
  • Perform physical tasks such as lifting heavy equipment, working in confined spaces, and climbing ladders.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 7 years of maritime electrical experience.
  • Knowledge of NAVSEA standards and ability to use relevant hand tools and instruments.
  • Understanding of wire capacities and AC/DC power systems.
  • Experience with shipboard electrical systems and troubleshooting skills.
Additional Requirements:
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting at least 20 lbs, working in extreme conditions, and operating machinery.
