Job summary

CARE | Charlotte Animal Referral & Emergency in Charlotte, NC is seeking ICU technicians to provide high-level nursing care for hospitalized patients across our specialty services. This full-time role includes day and night shifts, with overtime and occasional holiday work.

You will support veterinarians, perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, lab analysis, and digital radiology in a fast-paced emergency setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of veterinary technician experience.
• RVT preferred but not required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Able to lift up to 40 lbs unassisted.
• Emotionally intelligent with critical thinking.
• Proficient with EMR systems and digital radiology.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in all aspects of care.
• Provide advanced nursing care to patients.
• Venipuncture: jugular, cephalic, saphenous.
• IV Catheter placement.
• Automated and manual laboratory analysis; Digital radiology.
• Triage patients and anticipate veterinarian's needs to maintain workflow.
• Anesthesia induction, endotracheal intubation, and anesthesia monitoring.
• Provide compassionate customer service to clients.
• Medical calculations.

Board-certified specialty services offered include internal medicine, cardiology, neurology, surgery, oncology, and ophthalmology. Our advanced diagnostic services include ultrasonography and echocardiography, electroencephalography, endoscopy, rapid-scan CT imaging, high field MRI, and cardio cath lab, in addition to many others. ICU technicians are responsible for providing exceptional nursing care for our hospitalized patients. ICU technicians care for all hospitalized specialty and emergency patients which affords you the opportunity to work with all of our specialists and ER veterinarians.

Shifts Available

• 1st shift ICU: 6am to 4pm
  • Work 5 days/ off 5 days, then work 2 days, off 2 days
• 2nd shift ICU: 2pm to 12am
  • Work 5 days/ off 5 days, then work 2 days, off 2 days
  • $2/shift differential applies
• All schedules offered are full-time and overtime is available.
• As a 24/7 hospital, some holidays and weekends will be required.

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent
• A minimum of 2 years of veterinary technician experience is required
• RVT preferred but not required
