Job Description
This is a general overview of the major responsibilities a new hire can expect to perform. The position of Meat Clerk includes the following duties:
- Provide friendly and courteous service to customers
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
- Wrap, label, and price products
- Prepare products for the service meat case
- Suggestive selling and product sampling
- Receive products from the warehouse
- Stock, straighten, and rotate products in meat cases and coolers
- Read and understand shelf tags
- Follow safety guidelines when using equipment
- Provide customers with proper cooking instructions
- Check and maintain temperature controls for coolers, freezers, and the cutting room
- Maintain cleanliness of work area, equipment, and meat cases following safety and sanitation guidelines
- At closing, remove products from the service meat case for proper storage
- Perform other duties as assigned by store management
Training
Training will be provided at the store level.
Physical Demands
- Bending and stooping
- Working in cold, wet environments
- Lifting up to 75 pounds
- Standing for entire shift (4-8 hours)
Additional Requirements – Internal Candidates
- Store/Facility Teammates: minimum of six months employment with Schnucks preferred
- Store Support Center Teammates: minimum of one year employment with Schnucks preferred
- Must be in good standing (not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline)
- If invited for an interview, manager approval based on performance is required
