Schnuck Markets is hiring for a checker to deliver friendly, efficient service at the register. You will handle cash transactions, process various payment methods, and maintain accurate receipts while assisting customers in a fast-paced grocery environment.

Training is provided at store level, with requirements for good attendance, accuracy, and knowledge of coupons and produce items. The role includes physical tasks typical of a checkout position and benefits as offered by Schnucks.

• Bag customer orders.
• Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes.
• Other duties may be assigned by store management.

Job Description

This is not an official description, but represents major responsibilities a new hire can expect to perform. You could expect the position of checker to include the following:

DUTIES

• Provide friendly and courteous service to customers
• Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Greet customers prior to checking their order
• Check out customer's purchases accurately
• Identify and know produce items and be able to properly use produce and product codes
• Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons
• Process manufacturer coupons
• Collect correct amount due from customer
• Use proper procedure of accepting cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers and other payment options
• Complete register record accurately
• Practice and maintain cash security
• Bag customer orders
• Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes
• Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management

TRAINING

Training will be provided at store level.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Bending
• Stooping
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
• Working on feet entire shift (4-8 hours)

Additional Requirements - Internal Candidates

• Store/Facility Teammates: minimum of six months employment with Schnucks preferred.
• Store Support Center Teammates: minimum of one year employment with Schnucks preferred.
• Must be in good standing (not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline).
• If invited for an interview, must have manager approval based on performance.

Compensation Pay Range

$15.15 - $16.45
