Job summary

Sigma Defense is seeking a Test Engineer to join our team in San Diego, CA. The role focuses on developing test strategies, conducting functional, integration, system, regression, and performance tests, and supporting DoD network environments.

You will document defects, perform RCA, collaborate with systems and cybersecurity engineers, and prepare installation docs. A Bachelor's in engineering, 3+ years experience, Security+ or CISSP and OS certs, and ability to obtain a secret clearance are

• Experience documenting defects with steps, logs, and telemetry.
• Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Configure, install, and maintain network equipment and services in Navy Enterprise Network architecture.
• Create, maintain, and validate VLANs, routing, IP schemes, and WAN connectivity.
• Develop test plans and perform functional, integration, system, regression, and performance tests.
• Collaborate with systems, software, and cybersecurity engineers to ensure secure network operations.
• Document installation procedures and runbooks; participate in shipboard testing and validation.

• 3+ Years of experience.
• Experience with developing test strategies and test plans for HA network architectures.
• Experience with creating functional, integration, system, regression, and performance test cases.
• Experience performing regression testing after network software, firmware, configuration, or topology changes.
• Experience documenting defects with reproducible steps, logs, packet captures, and relevant telemetry.
• Experience analyzing failures and participate in root-cause analysis (RCA).
• Experience with Network Devices such as Switches, Routers, Wireless Controllers/APs, Proxy Servers, VOIP, and NTP services
• Experience with hyper-converged infrastructures.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.

Mandatory Certifications:

• Security+ or CISSP and at least one Operating System certification (i.e. Windows, Linux, VMware, Cisco IOS).

Computer Programs/Software:

• Experience with Jira and Confluence.
• Experience with Git, Ansible, CI/CD tools.
• Experience with scripting languages: Python, JavaScript, PowerShell.
• Experience with Cloud, including AWS and Azure.

Personnel Clearance Level:

• Candidate must possess or have the ability to obtain an active Secret security clearance or higher.
• Clearance may be sponsored for the right candidate.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering or related field of study.

Essential Job Duties (not all-inclusive):

• Configure, install, and maintain network equipment, software and services across Navy Enterprise Network architecture to include switching, routing, firewall, proxy, wireless, call managers, network access control, voice over IP and network time services.
• Implement, test, evaluate, and troubleshoot VLANs, routing protocols, IP addressing plans, and WAN connectivity.
• Integrate external services including a wide variety of connected systems.
• Apply and validate network-related STIGs in coordination with cybersecurity personnel to ensure compliance with DoD security standards.
• Create, Maintain, and update installation documentation, network diagrams, IP schemas, port mappings, and script/configurations for automated installations.
• Conduct diagnostics and fault isolation during official and unofficial test events and production installations.
• Collaborate with systems, software, and cybersecurity engineers to deliver secure and resilient network operations.
• Participate in shipboard testing, validation, and documentation.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $100,000 annually.
